A Rant About Something That Just Made Me Sad

Today, we had to move classrooms and move equipment for the school festival preparations. But the start time for that overlapped with carrying equipment for the light music club, so I went to the club instead. I figured someone would help carry the stuff. But nope, nobody helped me. I can kind of understand leaving my guitar at the back, but even my backpack, which was clearly placed on the desk. I guess it's my fault for overestimating people's goodwill and not directly asking for help. Another class (let's call them Class B) was already in the original classroom, and I thought maybe my stuff was just buried under other items and I couldn't see it. That wasn't the case. I asked our homeroom teacher, who was nearby, and they said, "The Class B teacher brought over someone's luggage that was left behind." Since I had to coordinate things, I prioritized my guitar and asked the Class B students if my guitar was behind them. Apparently, it was, and they brought it over. Thank you. After that, I looked for my backpack again. It wasn't there. I asked the Class B teacher if I could go into their classroom and look for it. They gave me permission, and I found it right away. It was still on the desk. While I know it's my fault for not asking, I felt a sense of emptiness, or sadness, or just a general negative emotion.

If my existence isn't recognized in class, I figured it's okay to just disappear, so I went to help my friend's club (not the light music club) with their cultural festival preparations and vanished.

That's really sad. Even though I know it's easiest not to expect too much, my heart still aches sometimes. It's okay not to force a smile right now.

Instead of it being my fault for not asking, or their fault for not doing it, couldn't it be that they lacked goodwill, or perhaps they just didn't have the awareness or consideration to think of it? (This, in turn, could also lead to indifference, weak interpersonal relationships, or affect various other aspects of our interactions.) Either way, I hope you don't overthink it and instead cherish your own sense of what 'should be' or what you 'want to be' in that situation and experience.

First off, great job with the cultural festival preparations. It must have been tough, and then something disheartening happened… There are various theories, but they say the word "arigatou" (thank you) comes from "arigatai," meaning "difficult to exist." Apparently, it was very hard to receive kindness from others in the past when times were poorer than now. While we live in prosperous times now where we don't struggle for food, I sometimes wonder if we're still poor in spirit because we lack the ability to be considerate of others. That's why I want to be kind to the few precious people around me. I'm glad you were able to move past the discouragement and join your friends in their preparations. More preparations tomorrow, and the day after is the main event, perhaps? Don't let it weigh on your mind, and don't push yourself too hard. I'm praying you can enjoy it even a little bit🙏🏻 ※Sorry for the long message
