Seafood Feast

No pictures, but I had a lot of seafood. For lunch, I had salmon nigiri (4 pieces) and tobiko nigiri (1 piece) from the supermarket, and Tako-wasa (octopus with wasabi). For dinner, I had grilled tilefish marinated in sake lees, leftover Tako-wasa from lunch, and various other dishes. I can't forget the Tako-wasa I had at a tasting event for a new, very luxurious dinner menu when I first joined a tourist hotel as a new graduate decades ago. It was so delicious... Since then, I've bought Tako-wasa during trips to port towns and tried it elsewhere, but it was always far from the ideal I remembered... I had almost given up, but when I bought some from a local supermarket recently, it was the closest I've ever had to that perfect Tako-wasa!! It's simple Tako-wasa with tender octopus and stem wasabi. Just like the one I had that day. The flavor is a bit stronger than I remember, but it was delicious. It went perfectly with rice. I don't drink alcohol, so I can't say for sure, but I imagine it would pair well with drinks too. Well, Tako-wasa is usually an appetizer for drinks, so my way of eating it on its own is probably a bit unusual. This is a depopulated area, and it's been a few years since the supermarket near my local Aeon mall closed and a new one opened. I only recently noticed they had Tako-wasa and bought it. I'm so glad I did.
