Friendships After Becoming an Adult

I think childhood friends were friends mostly because we were in the same school, rather than whether we clicked or not. I don't have many friends in general, and among my school friends, there's maybe only one person I'd say I really get along with. For the others, I feel like we're still friends now simply because we've known each other for a long time. Well, even with the friend I do get along with, we've become distant lately. When it comes to friendships as an adult, whether you click or share hobbies might be somewhat important for maintaining the relationship, but I think the most crucial thing is not to say unnecessary things. As kids, we went to the same school, so we were somewhat in the same position, or on the same stage, but as adults, that changes completely. Therefore, neither of us is the same as we were, and our relationships change. Just because we were the same back then doesn't mean we are now. Work, money, marriage, children, parents – things differ greatly. It becomes natural for things to be different, and it gets harder to find common ground. When that happens, if you talk like you did in the old days, you might drift apart. Maybe we're no longer looking in the same direction with anyone. But even though that's sad, I also think it's unavoidable. I wish I could make new friends.

It's really hard to make friends after you become an adult, isn't it? Everyone puts on a good face, so it's hard to talk honestly, and you end up just having superficial conversations. I really want to make new friends.
