Next to Kyoto (Super Hidden Gem)

Former Kuchiki Village in Shiga Prefecture (Kuchiki, Takashima City) I know places full of nature can be hit or miss, but I really like it. It was mentioned in elementary school geography class as a place facing severe depopulation issues. It's not that far from Otsu City, but it seems to have struggled to develop, sandwiched between mountains and a lake... Well, it's probably heaven for occasional visits, but it would be too inconvenient to live there. Still, I want to go again...
