Break Time

On my first day at my part-time job, for some reason, my break was at 4 PM. Everyone started at 9 AM, but the seniors took their breaks first. When I asked why, "Newbies go last." "It's normal to prioritize seniors." "It's always been this way." And when it got busier, I was always the one put off. So, I talked to the manager, and we decided to draw lots every morning to determine the break order. At first, the seniors said, "Sure, whatever." But the moment I drew the last spot――. Did they really want to uphold the "old rule"? Or did they just want to uphold a rule that benefited them?
