Many issues make it hard to restart

I quit and deleted my account after about 5 months because I hit a wall... I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to continue with a new account. However, the more I think about it, the more I realize it's better not to. There are 3 reasons: <① To get stronger, you need an absurd amount of materials and diamonds, and the game design makes it basically impossible to win against paying players.> The amount needed for breakthroughs, the amount for enhancement materials, the amount for equipment parts... What's problematic is the sheer number of copies needed for breakthroughs, but the level link cap and Arcana might be the root of all evil. Due to the level cap release and Arcana, older characters still have some value, making continuous play and spending directly linked to strength (in other games, the latest characters often make everything else obsolete, but in this game, the system makes the impact of new characters less significant). The effectively infinite level cap means there's no end to progression, and once there's a certain level difference, the power gap becomes insurmountable. On top of that, it's difficult to switch characters and fight effectively. Therefore, Guild Battles and Battlegrounds will inevitably have fixed lineups sooner or later (and the servers might die out due to a lack of players in the first place).

<② Game Systems That Lead to Player Attrition> I think it's a common complaint in Memento Mori that progress quickly stalls. You can never seem to gather enough level-up materials, and without breaking through, your stats are just too low. Even if you manage to push forward, you hit a wall with gacha equipment. If the resources you get from quests and towers don't change much anyway, then what's the point of spending money to progress? The equipment gacha system isn't great either; there are so many items, it's cluttered and confusing. Changing equipment setups is a hassle, and since you just skip battles, it doesn't feel like you're actually fighting. Having daily battles, guild battles, and phantom events also contributes to the feeling of it being a chore. Maybe it's because resources are too spread out, leading to a lack of satisfying progression (you don't feel like you're getting stronger). Even though you play every day, things barely change, so it's easy to get bored.

<③ The monetization system is trash> So, even if you think about paying to solve it, there are too many packs. I'm sure many people don't know which one is the best deal. Unfortunately, you should consider 90% of the packs as garbage. The pricing is also garbage. Due to cumulative diamonds, the daily spending limit for efficiency is 24,000 yen, and you can stop anywhere as long as it counts towards the cumulative diamonds, but... there are almost no combinations that allow you to spend exactly that amount. Even the 11,800 yen Ultra Sale, which should be the most profitable pack, forces you to pay an extra 120 yen because you're 200 yen short. The Ultra Sale is also limited to 2 hours, and adjusting the prices is a real hassle. Why is the system so cumbersome? Is it a system to squeeze money out of gambling addicts? Looking at the monetization aspects, it's not something you can stick with long-term.

Pros of Memento Mori: - Daily playtime is short. →This is especially noticeable compared to open-world games like Genshin Impact. Cons of Memento Mori: - The amount you can spend is terrifying. →Even if you spend around 1 million (currency), if you make a mistake in your training method, you can still be defeated by a free-to-play player. →Conversely, the benchmark for heavy spenders is over 10 million. Well, if it's about winning or losing, you can see people crushing opponents with piles of cash in various videos and streams, so watching those is probably the best approach.

So, I've narrowed down the complaints to three points... Anyway, as a PvP game, I think it's the worst. Then how about it as a character-collecting game? What if you only spend diamonds on characters, ignoring strength and progression? What if you just pull one character and that's it? Isn't it easy for free-to-play or low-spending players to just pull one character? Wouldn't players who've been around since launch be able to complete their character roster with almost no spending? Starting now would require some spending, but wouldn't it be manageable? If you focus solely on characters, I think the daily playtime effort would also be significantly reduced. But... is that fun? Is it fun to just pull a character and be done with it? You can't play it like other games where you level up characters and deploy them in events. It's really just... pull and done... To begin with, most games don't require you to pull all characters, but in Memento Mori, you're forced to pull them for the level cap and Arcana unlocks. It's a game with strong battle and enhancement elements either way, so I wonder if it's fun to just pull characters while ignoring both aspects?

I think it's also a problem that there are so many servers and the game system makes it easy to feel the lack of players. It would be fine if you could do everything alone, but guild raids are impossible alone, and I think it would be difficult to unlock Luke without a reasonably active guild. The friend gacha is also like that, and because there are quite a few elements of interaction with other players, there's a strong sense of obligation in daily play. Even though it's advertised as an idle game, aren't there too many things to do? This isn't a game you can slowly continue by yourself. Even if you were to continue slowly, the system makes it difficult for rankings to change, so it doesn't feel very rewarding... As for a "bonsai game" (a game you play passively over time), you can't get a sense of accomplishment because character development never ends (or you never have enough diamonds or materials). If you're going to play, you might just have to commit to it as a visual, music, or character-focused game... Maybe you just have to deliberately slack off on events and guilds and get used to it... I guess the fact that I'm thinking this much means I still see potential...

Apologies for the long comment. I also used to play Memento Mori. I was drawn in by the visuals, but I got tired of the social elements and don't play at all now. I strongly remember feeling disheartened by the stark difference in spending, especially in PvP and Guild Battles. It was a new server at the time, so I regret it, but I'm still hesitant to start again... Even if I try to accept it as a game just to enjoy the world, I feel like the system itself gets in the way of enjoying it... (Is there no other way but to give up...)
