The Evolution of School Lunches Part 2
A Major Shift in School Lunches On September 16, 1977, approximately '7,800' students from 53 elementary schools (now primary schools) in Seoul were infected with 'Staphylococcus aureus' after consuming cream bread produced unhygienically by an unlicensed vendor. One third-grade student died as a result. Response and Significance School lunches were completely suspended immediately after the tragedy ➡️ Students had to bring packed lunches for about 4 years afterward. With economic growth and an increase in dual-income households, demands for the resumption of school lunches surged, leading to the decisive establishment and elevation of the [School Lunch Act] in 1981, based on the [School Lunch Rules] enacted in 1977.

The History of School Lunches: Part 1
The Birth of School Lunches 1. Concept: In 1790, Count Rumford, a German scientist and military officer, started the first recorded school lunch program in Munich. 2. Modern Style: The origin of the modern school lunch system traces back to feeding children during World War I to foster military personnel. First Introduction of School Lunches Around 1953, when the Korean War armistice was signed, UNICEF, USAID, and CARE provided powdered milk, cornmeal, and flour, leading to survival-based lunches of porridge and bread. Significance & Limitations While the school lunch system was introduced to ensure children's survival, the quality, quantity, and nutritional value were insufficient. Development of School Lunches Starting in the 1960s-1970s, as the economy grew and basic cooking facilities were established, school lunches distributing milk and bread became common. Significance & Limitations It improved compared to before and gradually adopted a modern school lunch system, but issues with stability and hygiene persisted due to nutritional deficiencies and a lack of laws and systems. Aid like flour from the US to Russia was halted, increasing individual costs.

History of Bleach 3
The Birth of 2.5 Generation Bleach In 1820, pharmacist and chemist Antoine Germain Labarraque developed a liquid sodium hypochlorite using traditional methods and sold it as 'Labarraque's Solution'. Significance and Limitations 1. Enabled mass production in larger quantities than before at a low cost. 2. Leveraged contemporary ideas and was utilized for public health, exerting a profound influence on human health. 3. Due to the traditional method, supply couldn't keep up with demand. 4. The method of adding chlorine gas to sodium solution posed high risks of industrial accidents. The Birth of 3rd Generation Bleach In 1930, the American company Clorox developed bleach from saltwater using the electrolysis method discovered in the late 19th century, creating the concept of modern bleach. Significance and Limitations 1. Widely popularized the name 'Bleach'. 2. Commercialized the highest efficiency product at the lowest cost compared to any other generation. 3. More actively adopted in public health, sanitation, and households. 4. Overcame most industrial accidents encountered so far. 5. Problems such as misuse, environmental pollution, and damage to modern fabrics arose.

History of Bleach 2
The Dawn of 2nd Generation Bleach In 1799, Scottish chemist Charles Tennant invented bleaching powder by reacting chlorine gas with calcium hydroxide (slaked lime), creating a solid powder. Full Name: Calcium Hypochlorite Significance and Limitations: 1. The quantity relative to weight and volume was on a completely different level compared to 'Javel water'. 2. Mass production was possible at a low cost using inexpensive calcium hydroxide. 3. Being a powder, it was easy to transport and could be supplied quickly and safely across Europe. 4. Coupled with the Industrial Revolution, the previously lagging cotton and textile industries rapidly advanced. 5. It had chemically unstable aspects, posing risks of explosion and corrosion.

Is it... okay to post this here...? 😅
Someone asked about the 'Rox on the Rock' meme... First Appearance First appeared on DCInside in the mid-2010s. It's presumed to have been used as "A glass of Rox, bartender" back then. Evolution Period It's presumed that the current 'Rox on the Rock' meme originated in the late 2010s. Reason for Origin It's confirmed to be a representative self-deprecating gag meme that started being used in various communities, including stock, student, and military galleries, to sublimate feelings of despair like "Life is so hard and exhausting that I want to make an extreme choice right now" into black humor.

History of Bleach - Part 1
The Beginning of 1st Generation Bleach In 1774, Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele discovered its bleaching and sterilizing properties while researching chlorine. In 1785, French chemist Claude Louis Berthollet stabilized chlorine gas by mixing it with a potassium carbonate (alkaline) solution, supplying it to Europe as a bleach called 'Eau de Javel'. Significance and Limitations 1. It became the origin of bleach as the first-ever bleaching agent. 2. It shortened the complex bleaching process of the time and demonstrated the potential of bleaching agents. 3. The cost of the potassium carbonate solution and the fact that it was only produced as a liquid made production and transportation highly inefficient relative to cost.

Gochugaru (Korean Chili Powder)
During the Imjin War, the Japanese army brought it to Joseon as a chemical warfare agent and it spread. Later, it was used as a spice in Joseon, and there's a record in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty about someone dying after mixing gochugaru into soju. Judging by the record of a brave Joseon soldier spraying gochugaru in the faces of US troops during the Battle of Ganghwa Island, it was still used as a chemical warfare agent.

Liberation Day Special (1/2)
I've prepared content that goes beyond the basic facts about Liberation Day, delving into details that require deeper study. The Profound Meaning of Liberation Day Etymology and Philosophical Significance of 'Gwangbok' 'Gwangbok (光復)' means 'to regain light.' It symbolizes not just the recovery of independence but also the restoration of the nation's spiritual and cultural sovereignty, embodying the philosophical meaning of re-establishing national identity and self-determination suppressed during the Japanese colonial period. Historical Paradox August 15, 1945, marks the date of Japan's unconditional surrender, but in reality, it led to the occupation and rule by the US and Soviet allied forces. True self-determination and independence were completed with the establishment of the Republic of Korea government on August 15, 1948. Therefore, Liberation Day holds a dual meaning of liberation and nation-building (建国). International Context August 15th is the unofficial end date of World War II, serving as a turning point for independence movements not only in Korea but also in colonized nations worldwide. It triggered the decolonization of the Asian region along with the conclusion of the Pacific War. *The official end date of World War II is September 2nd.
