Day 2 of Gangwon Province Trip

I'll introduce the places I visited on the second day of my Gangwon Province trip in the order of the photos! The first and second photos are of Doho Beach, which was near my accommodation. It was close to the accommodation, so it was nice to stop by for a quick look at the sea, and it was also great for a quiet walk and enjoying the scenery. The third and fourth photos are of Naksansa Temple. It was nice to explore slowly as you could see the temple scenery along with the sea. The weather was good, so it was a decent place to take pictures. The fifth photo is of a place selling hotteok at Alley S Roadhouse. I saw it while passing by and tried one as a snack, and it was good for a simple bite in the middle of the trip. The sixth and seventh photos are of Ojukheon House. I leisurely looked around, enjoying the atmosphere of the old buildings and the surrounding scenery. The last eighth and ninth photos are of Deungmyeong Beach. The sea view was also pretty, so I stopped by for a while to take pictures and look around. As I wandered around like this, it turned out to be a trip where I visited quite a few places.

Choichim Pandek (Hhadong)

I once visited Choichim Pandek in Hhadong. It's known as a filming location for movies and dramas, so there were many interesting spots to explore. After grabbing a coffee and taking a short break at the cafe near the entrance, I started exploring properly. The surrounding scenery was peaceful and great for a leisurely stroll. There were well-decorated buildings everywhere, making it a nice place to walk around and take photos. Seeing the actual filming locations felt different from how they appeared on screen. Especially, the natural scenery blended beautifully, making it feel healing just to walk around. Looking back at the photos I took, I was reminded of the memories from my trip. If you like movie and drama filming locations, I think it's worth a visit as you can explore the sites and enjoy a relaxing walk :)

Mungyeongsaejae

I went to Mungyeongsaejae to see the autumn foliage. As I walked through Mungyeongsaejae, trees stretched out on both sides. Among the green leaves that remained, yellow, orange, and red autumn colors were mixed, giving a sense of autumn at a glance. Fallen leaves were also accumulating on the ground, filling the path with an autumnal atmosphere. Especially, as I slowly walked along the path surrounded by mountains, the distant mountain ridges were also painted in various colors, which was truly beautiful. The sight of the tranquil old path blending with the surrounding autumn leaves was impressive, and I enjoyed the moments when I stopped to look at the scenery. As I walked slowly, breathing in the clear and cool autumn air, I felt like I could forget my complicated thoughts for a while. It was a memorable trip to Mungyeongsaejae because I could leisurely enjoy the autumn scenery while walking along the tranquil path, not just looking at the vibrant foliage. ps) My photography skills at the time... ahem..

Deogyusan Mountain (Jangsu)

Deogyusan Mountain spans across Muju and Jangsu in Jeollabuk-do and Geochang/Hamyang in Gyeongsangnam-do, offering different scenery each season. It's particularly famous in winter for its heavy snowfall, making it a great spot to enjoy a white snowy landscape. After it snows, the trees and mountain paths are covered in white, creating a unique winter mountain atmosphere. I visited Deogyusan in winter, and I vividly remember how much snow had accumulated back then. The sight of the entire mountain turned white was beautiful, and the frozen lake offered a completely different view from usual. Looking at the snow-covered mountains and the frozen lake made me feel inexplicably calm. Usually, I only see green mountains, but seeing Deogyusan in winter made me realize how much the atmosphere can change even in the same place. I thought it was a place worth visiting at least once if you want to escape daily life for a bit and find some healing while gazing at the quiet winter scenery.

Geunpo Underground Tunnel (Geoje)

This is the Geunpo Underground Tunnel I visited during my trip to Geoje last summer. The Geunpo Underground Tunnel is a cave located near Geunpo Village in Geoje. It's known to have been built during the Japanese colonial period to be used as an artillery base. Nowadays, it's famous as a photo spot where you can take pictures with the sea as a backdrop from inside the cave. Perhaps because of that, even when I visited a bit after lunchtime, there were many people trying to take pictures, so I had to wait in line outside the cave. I was sweating buckets waiting outside in the summer, but it was nice because it was surprisingly cool once I got inside the cave. Although I had to wait a bit because it's a popular place with people lining up, when it was my turn and I took pictures inside the cave, I understood why it's so famous. The blue sea and scenery visible through the cave created a beautiful harmony, and the photos turned out really well. I visited in the summer, and it was a memorable place where I could briefly escape the heat in the cool cave and capture beautiful photos.

Deokpyeong Nature Rest Area

Unlike other rest areas, this one is designed with nature in mind. There's a pond in the middle and gardens, making it a great place to relax and look around. You'll find time flies by while you eat, take a walk, and sightsee lol

Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival

The Yudeung (lanterns) originated from floating lanterns on the Namgang River during the Jinjuseong Fortress battle, one of the three great battles of the Imjin War, serving as military signals to communicate with righteous armies outside the fortress and as a means to convey the well-being of family members. Jinju citizens have inherited this tradition, operating a lantern competition as part of the Gaecheon Arts Festival, the first comprehensive local arts festival in Korea held since 1949. Since 2000, it has been held independently as the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival. The lanterns have been sublimated into a festival that wishes for the citizens' desire for peace, love, happiness, and the fulfillment of wishes, and have grown into a global festival that shares the value of peace with people worldwide. Every autumn, in Jinju, the city of light and peace, the spectacular sight of lanterns spread across the Namgang River and Jinjuseong Fortress allows us to reflect on the historical meaning contained within the beautiful scenery. This year's festival runs from October 3rd to 18th. On the 3rd and 17th, both drone shows and fireworks will be held. On the 9th, there will be fireworks, and on the 10th, a drone show, so please take note.

Second Gyeongju Trip Review

On the second day of my Gyeongju trip, I visited Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto. Gyeongju is really hot! So I decided to go in the morning after checking other people's reviews. Everyone recommended going to Seokguram first, so I did. I'll just briefly explain it as Seokguram being above and Bulguksa below, because a detailed explanation might spoil the experience. You really have to go to Seokguram early. You'll understand when you get there. Also, you absolutely must visit the night market in Gyeongju. It's a must-do. You can find a lot if you search for it, and although there aren't many stalls, everything is delicious.
