Octopuses have 3 hearts?! Octopuses are one of the most mysterious creatures on Earth. Amazingly, they have three hearts! Two pump blood through the gills, while the third circulates blood to the rest of the body. Even more surprising is that an octopus's blood is blue, not red! Humans have 'hemoglobin' in their blood that carries iron, making it red, but octopuses use 'hemocyanin,' a copper-based protein, which makes their blood blue. Furthermore, an octopus's brain is distributed throughout its body! Two-thirds of its neurons are in its arms, allowing each arm to think and act independently! This is why octopuses demonstrate incredible problem-solving skills, like opening jars or escaping mazes!
