(This is subjective, so take it with a grain of salt) Chatting is described like Zeta, with a chat-like feel? And Story Chat is described in a novel format. Chatting feels more casual, right? You can play without using crackers, and even if you do, it's only about 20. I'm completely Story Chat only!! I only do Story Chat. Again, the difference between Chatting and Story Chat is my subjective standard... so don't trust it too much. There will probably be people who know better than me coming here 😂

From a creator's perspective: Chat - The character limit for setting input is small (around 2000 characters, if I recall). It's difficult to include a rich world-building, so the focus tends to be on a single character. LLMs also often misinterpret context, swapping subjects and objects. As conversations get longer, repetition becomes frequent. Story Chat - The character limit for setting input is much larger (up to 7000 characters). This allows for more commands to prevent LLM context misinterpretations and to plan plots involving more than two characters. Users can also utilize 'User Notes' to specify points the LLM should pay attention to or remember when responding.

Try both. As the commenters above said, The character has a small settings window, so the details are a bit lacking. However, it has the merit of being free or 20 crack. (It remembers better than Zeta. It can remember even after 100 turns.) The story is much more detailed because the setting text is 7000 characters. It's like a novel, so the immersion is good. It's even better because of the memory boost haha But it's expensiveㅠㅠ
