What is death?

Is it important to me or to others? From my perspective, it might just be the ending of a novel or an unfinished book. However, for those left behind, my death could mean they live the rest of their lives with lingering, uncomfortable feelings like 'I should have been nicer' or 'I shouldn't have fought back then.' In that sense, it seems more important to others. But if I deeply consider 'my' perspective again, I lose everything I've built up โ€“ relationships, social status, money, my story, my parents, my role as a son/daughter, my remaining family, etc. โ€“ and disappear alone into a world of nothingness. In that sense, it seems more important to me. I'm curious about your thoughts.

Once I'm dead, it's over for me, so isn't it more important for those who remain?

The afterlife is a world no one has ever experienced... If you think of it as returning to nothingness after letting go of everything, it would be more important to those left behind. Then again, who knows, if there's a world after death, death itself could be another beginning.

Death might be closer to me before it actually comes, but since people keep living, I think the impact on those left behind will be greater.

This year, while attending a relative's funeral and greeting those who came in mourning attire, I had some thoughts from the perspective of facing death. Is it over when you die? Is there nothing after death? Or do we scientifically become separated into particles drifting in the world? And did I live well? What does it mean to live well? Relationships, social status, money... what can be called 'living well'? I couldn't find answers to these questions and pushed the thoughts away, busily serving food and bowing. Time passed, and now those memories are resurfacing here. I think I'll spend some time lost in these thoughts again. I enjoyed reading your post. ใ…Žใ…Žใ…Ž

After you die, your brain stops and your thoughts cease, so the deceased won't experience death. Doesn't that mean death has no meaning for the person who died? For those left behind, someone else's death is likely to bring fear or guilt, so I think it's highly probable it will negatively impact the survivors.
