Regarding gadget selection, since the final section is swimming, it's best to choose gadgets that allow you to keep swimming until the end. That's why I used the Mermaid Potion. Mermaid Potion: Charge with swimming, then use in swimming. The whale used by the 1st place player can't receive booster buffs but can be used 5 times, which seems to be why they chose it. For those with high swimming stats, Even though 4th place used the same whale and had higher swimming stats than me... they couldn't get into the top ranks because they couldn't receive the medium booster buff. I recommend choosing gadgets specialized for both magic and swimming if possible.
