The Course of Love - Alain de Botton

I have no idea what the protagonist is talking about. I don't know how many times they said to stop thinking while reading, or to go to the hospital... It kind of feels like they just learned the word they're using a short while ago? How many times is the same word repeated in one paragraph... I lost count and gave up. The ending was quite shocking. Is it okay to have an ending like this in a novel about love? Honestly, I'm not even sure if the protagonist is actually in love. It feels like they're in love with 'themselves loving the other person' rather than 'loving the other person'. Too much overthinking... Despite living more emotionally than anyone else, they pretend not to be and act rational, and when they try to explain their emotional actions rationally, the explanation just doesn't sink in. Who philosophizes love...

Just saw what's written on the obi strip. Don't make me laugh, calling it a romance novel...
