Why Mold Tends to Form in Certain Corners of Apartments

When you cut into an apartment's exterior wall, you'll find a layer of insulation between the concrete. The problem lies where that layer is interrupted. The balcony floor slab is concrete that extends directly from the indoor floor outwards, so the insulation gets cut off at that point. It's like a bridge was built where there shouldn't be one. The solution wasn't to add more insulation, but to break that bridge. Instead of connecting the outward-extending concrete directly to the indoor structure, a layer of insulation is inserted, allowing only the necessary rebar to pass through. There's a reason the corners of the master bedroom were fine.
