A story about what just happened while I was taking a taxi
Something a bit awkward happened while I was taking a taxi today. I had a lot of luggage and it seemed difficult to walk, so I took a taxi. When I arrived at my destination and was about to get out, the driver suddenly asked if I had any cash. He grumbled a bit, saying he needed cash to buy lunch, and we didn't have any cash either, so we intended to pay by card. However, even though the fare was only about the base rate, he asked again if I could pay in cash. From our perspective, we didn't have cash in the first place and were trying to pay by card, and there seemed to be nothing wrong with paying the taxi fare by card, so we were a bit taken aback. I understand the driver might have had his own reasons for needing cash for lunch, but from the passenger's point of view, it felt like a bit of a difficult situation. What would you guys think in this situation? Can you understand the driver's perspective, or do you think asking a passenger for cash payment is a bit much?

Oh my gosh, you must have been so flustered on your way home from work. While I sympathize with the driver's situation, demanding cash from passengers is a bit much. I totally get how you feel, Mumu! You really went through a lot today!

Like how traditional markets or fish cake vendors don't accept cards for amounts under 2,000 won... Can't you do bank transfers with taxis these days? I've often met drivers who persistently demand like that too, but I just felt uncomfortable so I said I didn't have cash even if I did and paid by card lol. And since some time ago, I always use Kakao Taxi's auto-pay to avoid any awkwardness ㄷㄷ😑
