Oasis (2023)

Today, I'll be introducing the drama "Oasis," which aired in 2023. Set against the backdrop of a turbulent South Korea from the 1980s to the 1990s, this work depicts the story of three youths fiercely living their lives to protect their dreams, friendships, and the one true first love of their lives. Lee Doo-hak, Choi Cheol-woong, and Oh Jung-shin have known each other since childhood, but their relationships become increasingly complicated as they fall in love with the same woman. Adding to this are the historical circumstances and their individual family backgrounds, which lead them down different paths. I remember being surprisingly immersed when I watched this drama. Initially, I found it difficult to understand why characters like the father or Cheol-woong acted the way they did. However, as the story progressed, I gradually began to understand the reasons behind their actions and their perspectives. It's a story that lingers in memory not just for its tale of first love, but for how it portrays the entanglement of love, friendship, family, and desire amidst the flow of time.
