[Review] Shiki

A manga featuring Ono Fuyumi, the author of 'The Twelve Kingdoms,' as the story writer, and Fujisaki Ryu, the illustrator of 'Hoshin Engi,' as the artist. For reference, there's also an original novel by Ono Fuyumi, so if you enjoyed the manga, I recommend it. The story lines of the novel and the manga differ slightly (characters who should die live, and characters who should live die). The anime initially follows the manga's route but switches to the novel's route in the latter half, leading to slight differences in the ending. The male protagonist, Yuuki Natsuno, moves to the village of Sotoba due to his parents' circumstances. He dislikes rural life and aimed for a university in the capital, and the female protagonist, Shimizu Megumi, also dreamed of city life. Meanwhile, strange deaths begin to occur in the village, and Yuuki and Shimizu gradually uncover the truth. As expected from Ms. Ono Fuyumi's work, it's interesting and incredibly captivating. The boundary between who is good and who is evil disappears, and the conclusion even presents a twist where good and evil seem to be reversed.
