I'm a newbie...
I'm a total beginner (started 4 days ago) so I don't really know the rules. I only found out about stalemate 3 days ago... Anyway, I was playing with the AI and tried to avoid stalemate, but I ended up capturing the last pawn! So I carefully tried to win somehow, but I couldn't figure out any move other than one that would lead to stalemate. I looked at the hint, and it told me to do that. Why isn't that a stalemate? I really don't get it, please help.

I'm still a beginner too!! To explain stalemate specifically, you must be in a state where you cannot move, but it's not a check! This means stalemate can occur even if you have pawns!! If you're in a favorable situation, you'll keep checking, so the condition for stalemate won't be met, and it won't happen!!! There's probably something related in the tutorial.

Checkmate When the king is attacked and there's no way to escape. Stalemate When the king is not attacked, but there are no legal moves available.
