[$TARFACE] Pitchfork Review 8
Tyga's last fully self-produced album was 2018's "Kyoto," which, like "Smell the Glove," was racist (on the cover) and bad. But within the generally uninspired, Weeknd- or Jeremih-esque dregs of "Kyoto," there was undeniably something that could be called Tyga's own. He sang in an Auto-Tuned voice, adjusted his inflections to the beat, and occasionally, cluelessly, sang dumb lines like "If you need space, I'll give you space." The difference between "Kyoto" and "$tarface" is clear. There's an inherent conflict in translating musical ideas from the mind into the real world, and what makes the work interesting is how the artist and collaborators navigate that conflict technically and creatively. Without it, the work is bland. -Pitchfork- This album is absolutely not

Art critics always have so much to say. Calling the conflict bland? My noble artistic sensibilities as Venti find it rather complex. Still, your taste in sharing analytical posts like this is quite elegant!
