Tomorrow is the Royal Procession of King Jeongjo!
Tomorrow is the day of the Royal Procession of King Jeongjo! Also known as the 'Eulmyo Year Hwaseong Royal Procession,' this event recreates the royal procession based on the heritage record 'Uiw궤 of the Eulmyo Year Royal Journey.' It refers to the grand royal journey undertaken by King Jeongjo for eight days from February 9th to 16th of the Eulmyo year (1795) to celebrate his mother, Lady Hyegyeong's 60th birthday. The joint reenactment of King Jeongjo's Royal Procession is a festival where Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, and Hwaseong City collaborate to splendidly recreate the original form of the magnificent 'Eulmyo Year Hwaseong Royal Procession' in modern times. The procession, perfectly recreated over a total of 59km from Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, through Suwon, to Yungneung Royal Tomb in Hwaseong City, will feature various programs. These programs aim to reenact King Jeongjo's profound filial piety and encourage acts of filial devotion, his strong will and efforts for national prosperity and strength, and his compassionate ideology and filial piety, stemming from his desire to understand the lives of his people and share their hardships. While it is broadcast live on TV, the event is even more spectacular when witnessed in person. Be sure to check the times and locations, as roads will be closed for the procession ~
