My friend who disappeared came back, but their legs... (1)

I moved to an unfamiliar neighborhood when I was young and didn't have any friends. I was also shy. I was just watching the kids play in the alley when a kid came up to me and said, "Hey! Why aren't you playing? Come here!" "Really? Can I really?" After that, we played together every day. But one day, they disappeared. On my first day of elementary school, I passed by their house and saw them looking down from the wall. I was so happy and said, "Aren't you going to school? Let's go together!" "I can't go to school 🥲" When I opened the gate and went inside, both of their legs and one arm were gone. I was so shocked that I couldn't speak for a while. I heard later that they had an accident at my dad's factory. Seeing the kid who was always so brave and like a leader of the alley looking at the kids going to school with a blank stare, I felt a surge of emotion. "Hey! Let me carry you!" I said, and we climbed over two mountains and I took them to my class without a second thought. From then on, I carried them on my back every day to school.
