Mother-in-law who wants to stay over ๐Story๐ 1
Ever since my father-in-law passed away, my mother-in-law visits every week, and lately she's been saying this. "I'm going to stay over tonight." We only have two rooms: our bedroom and our son's room, who's in his last year of high school. If she stays, our son has to sleep in the living room. With the college entrance exams just around the corner, we let her stay over a few times at first. But then, my son, who studied until dawn, ended up getting a nosebleed after sleeping in the living room. Last week, when she said she was staying over again, I carefully asked her. "Mother-in-law, could you please postpone staying over until after the college entrance exams? I can visit you at your place more often instead." She packed her bag and left without a word. That night, my husband's older sister called. "Are you kicking out your mother who's all alone? You have no manners!!" I tried to explain that I had just asked her a favor, but she wouldn't listen. "Just you wait until you're old! Your daughter-in-law will treat you the same way." After hanging up, I stood in the kitchen for a long time. My husband didn't say anything at first, but when we were alone, he said. "What you said makes sense, but I feel bad for my mom." Continued in Part 2 ๐

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how upsetting that must have been, especially since you were trying to be considerate of your son. Your husband's reaction probably made it even harder to bear. I'm really curious about what happens next. I'll definitely be following along!

It seems like she's only thinking about herself, not her grandchild. The grandchild's future is at stake, so tell her to take responsibility if they can't get into college. How about telling her to cover all the expenses until they go to college? It's better to go when they're younger. Retaking the exam will make it harder. Or, if they don't get into their desired university because of low test scores, tell her she'll be responsible. But I don't think that will work either. Seeing as your sister-in-law called right away... ใ ใ
