“The more important the promise, the easier it is for the brain to forget it”?

Have you ever had this experience: something that you told yourself a hundred times, “I absolutely cannot forget this” (like bringing your passport when going out, or sending a message to someone important), ends up being completely blank in your mind when the moment comes? Prospective Memory Overload: The brain relies on prospective memory to handle “things to do in the future.” When an event is assigned too high an emotional value or anxiety, the prefrontal cortex of the brain enters a state of high tension, triggering an “anxiety blockade of attention.” Brain’s Energy-Saving Defense: When emotional stress is too great, the brain automatically “downclocks” parts of its working memory to prevent neuronal overload. This phenomenon is known in psychology as the “Importance Paradox” – the more anxious you are about something, the more likely your brain is to create a cognitive blind spot at the crucial moment.

The real intention is not the wine

The real purpose of friends inviting you to a meal or event is often not about the meal itself! The main point is to use this opportunity to gossip, vent, or simply to see someone. The delicious food is just an excuse, the real intention isn't about the wine at all!

Why do tears uncontrollably stream down when cutting onions?

It's the onion's 'chemical weapon' fighting back against your cornea nerves! When you slice an onion with a knife, you violently rupture the onion cells' cell walls. This causes the 'alliinase' and sulfur-containing amino acids, which were previously separated, to mix instantly. Within milliseconds, they release a volatile gas called 'syn-propanethial S-oxide'. Once this gas diffuses and comes into contact with the tear film on your eye's surface, it instantly converts into trace amounts of 'sulfuric acid'! The corneal nerves on the surface of your eyeball sense this acidic irritation and immediately send a top-level 'chemical crisis alert' to your brain. The brain then commands the 'lacrimal glands' around your eyes to produce a massive amount of tears, attempting to 'dilute and wash away' these acidic substances. That's why you end up crying rivers of tears while chopping onions!

Gems need careful nurturing too, how do you usually care for them?💎

Hello everyone! 😊 Today, I'd like to chat about the daily care of gemstones! Each gem has its own unique characteristics, and different types of gems vary in hardness, heat resistance, and chemical resistance, so their care methods can't be generalized!💖 Here are a few points to keep in mind when wearing gemstones: 💎 1. Avoid collisions: When storing, try to separate them from other jewelry to reduce the chance of scratches. 💎 2. Stay away from chemicals: Perfumes, detergents, etc., can affect certain gemstones or jewelry materials. 💎 3. Proper cleaning: If you're unsure of the gemstone type, gently wipe it with a soft dry cloth first, and avoid using ultrasonic or high-temperature cleaning on your own. 💎 4. Proper storage: Storing them in a dry, suitable environment can reduce unnecessary damage. ✨ Gems are not only worth admiring but also worth our dedicated care! 💬 I'd like to ask everyone: What's your most frequently worn gemstone? And do you have any care tips you'd like to share? Feel free to leave comments and exchange ideas, let's learn more about gemstones together!❤️ #GemstoneCare #GemstoneMaintenance #GemstoneKnowledge #CollectionExchange

The Four Dhyānas and Eighteen Heavens - Part 18 | Nine Dhyānas of the Fourth Dhyāna ⑧: Sudassī Heaven

The Four Dhyānas and Eighteen Heavens - Part 18 | Nine Dhyānas of the Fourth Dhyāna ⑧: Sudassī Heaven Belongs to: The Form Realm - Fourth Dhyāna Heavens Location: Fourth of the Five Pure Abodes 'Sudassī Heaven' is the fourth level of the Five Pure Abodes, located above Sudassanā Heaven and below Akaniṣṭha Heaven. While 'Sudassī' and 'Sudassanā' have similar names, they are traditionally distinguished. 'Sudassanā' leans towards wondrous manifestation, whereas 'Sudassī' can be understood as seeing clearly or observing well. Different Buddhist scriptures may have slight variations in transliteration and interpretation, so one should not definitively conclude a clear difference in spiritual attainment based solely on the Chinese characters. According to Buddhist tradition, the Five Pure Abodes are inhabited by noble ones who have attained the Anāgāmi fruit (non-returner). These noble beings have severed the fetters of the desire realm and continue their practice here, ultimately attaining liberation. If we use 'Sudassī' (seeing clearly) to reflect on practice, it reminds us that seeing something does not equate to truly understanding it. People are often influenced by habits, emotions, and prejudices, mistaking their own perception for the complete picture. The contemplation emphasized in Buddhism involves not only observing the external world but also recognizing the origin of one's judgments and whether they are distorted by greed, hatred, or delusion. Seeing is the ability of the eyes; 'Sudassī' prompts us to reflect on how we see.

Qing Yu An: Ripples Pass By Hengtang Road

Ripples pass by Hengtang road, only watching the fragrant dust depart. With whom shall I spend these silken, splendid years? By the moonlit bridge and flowered courtyard, behind the latticed windows and vermilion doors, only spring knows the place. Fleeting clouds drift slowly at dusk over the fragrant marsh, my colorful brush newly inscribes lines of heartbreak. I ask, how much of this idle sorrow is there? A river of misty grass, a city full of windblown catkins, the rain of the plum-ripening season. Hè Zhù uses the late spring scenery to write of an unresolvable longing. The subject of the poem watches the beloved depart, leaving behind only the melancholy of a youth wasted. In the second half, the longing transforms into mist-like grass filling the river, willow fluff blown by the wind throughout the city, and the continuous rain during the plum-ripening season. The most famous part is the concluding three lines, which use misty grass, windblown catkins, and plum rain to symbolize sorrow, turning abstract emotions into boundless, present imagery. The brilliance of this poem lies in its indirect expression of sorrow's depth; instead, the entire world takes on the shape of that sorrow. Especially 'the rain of the plum-ripening season,' which not only marks the time but also describes the lingering, unceasing texture of the sorrow.
