Taichung, the city of 'qing ji' (fireworks/gunshots). My colleague asked me why. I said: People in Taichung can apply for a gun at the household registration office right after they're born, and they'll give you bullets for self-defense. But you have to go back to the office every year to have the gun inspected. If you're missing bullets, you have to write a report explaining where they went. Prosecutors will investigate, and you could go to jail if things go wrong. When you get the gun, they tell you not to talk about it outside, or you'll be fined, so nobody dares to speak up. They said, 'But you just told us!' I said, 'You guys won't report me, will you?' I said I got an AK-47 and it's just lying at my house. That gun is really heavy. Another colleague of mine, also from Taichung, asked me why he didn't know about this. I said, 'Because nobody talks about it!' People who know will apply on their own. You can try applying too~ I said, 'But it's probably better not to, saves you the trouble of going back for inspection every year.' The next second, I saw them believing it, so I said, 'Just kidding, it's all nonsense.' Taichung's public safety is actually terrible, that's why it's called the 'city of qing ji'~

There's a vegetarian restaurant called 'Mo Mi Wu Rou' on Tucheng Road in Dali, Taichung. The place is small, only fitting three counter seats, but the food is pretty good. I recommend checking it out.
