Does the boss not have a health bar?
On the second round of the event '999 Nights', the final boss didn't show a health bar the first time I fought it. I still managed to win without knowing its HP (all my characters are level 100 and it was still super hard!)

It hasn't been long since the game was released, so it's normal to have issues. There are a lot of bugs, but if you encounter one, just go to the nearest bonfire and restart.
