Arena of Valor Isn't Like It Used to Be
The feeling that Arena of Valor has gone from a phenomenal hit to 'not as good as it used to be' is a shared regret among many long-time players. If you were to organize this sentiment into a short, well-structured review or social media post, you could focus on the following core reasons: Arena of Valor Isn't as Fun Anymore? A Few Honest Thoughts from Old Players Recently, while chatting with friends about Arena of Valor, we all coincidentally lamented: 'It doesn't seem as fun as it used to be.' Remembering the glory days when you could easily gather a group to play, and even elders knew about the game, the current gap feels quite significant. In summary, the main reasons are: Environmental Mechanics Trapping Themselves (Stat Inflation & Overpowered New Heroes) Older heroes had simpler mechanics, emphasizing positioning and fundamentals. However, newly released heroes often have extremely high mobility, crowd control immunity, invincibility, or CC abilities, making character balance quite out of control. If you don't pick the 'meta' heroes, your game experience suffers significantly. Deterioration of Game Atmosphere and Ranked Environment With years of game operation, veteran players have grown weary, and new players or smurfs (alt accounts) are rampant. The frequency of AFKing, idling, trolling, and flaming in ranked matches is increasing, yet the punishment system is relatively weak, severely draining players' patience. Overly Aggressive Monetization Strategy Although the base game is free, the number and price of gacha skins (cosmetics) have increased significantly in recent years, with complex wheel and gacha mechanics. Compared to animation or visual upgrades, it feels like the operations team is more focused on pushing players to spend, creating a sense of alienation for free-to-play or low-spending players. Honestly, that punishment system is a bit tricky to adjust. It's easy to judge cases of verbal abuse, blocking paths, or cheating, and it's just a matter of whether the devs decide to act. But when it comes to reporting gameplay like 'feeding' or not participating in team fights, it's hard to find a balance. For instance, when I'm trying out a new character (in a normal match) to test their collision strength, I might feed a few times and get reported. Then I'd wonder if this game doesn't allow playing new characters? Most players aren't pros and need multiple games to get a handle on a character. You can't report someone just because they're not playing well.

They should create a 5v5 mode where you can only solo queue to climb.

I think player quality is more important. There weren't as many psychos back then, but now there are people who randomly flash lights for no reason, or keep making 'god-tier' plays. Especially after 芽芽破角 came out, it's even more annoying. If you want to play them, they can just impose it on others and curse at you, and you can't do anything about it. The trash reporting system is useless too. This card event was a direct big move, purely to disgust people by secretly adjusting card drop rates. The devs have really lost it, they don't care about players anymore and are just focused on selling skins and forcing people to pay.
