Review: 'Superintendent! Superintendent Senpai' 👮‍♂️✨

This series has concluded with a total of 8 volumes. It also won 3rd place in the 'Next Manga Award 2025' for print manga! An anime adaptation has been announced for broadcast this October 🎉 The story is set in a world where superpowers can be used for criminal investigations. Despite being a powerful 'Esper Investigator,' the protagonist, Jun Chojo, works at a suburban police station, partnering with the super-strong policewoman Naoko Ipponmatsu to handle various incidents, big and small. While the premise might seem like a typical supernatural detective manga, it's actually a hilarious comedy 🤣 Chojo is incredibly strong but acts nothing like a powerhouse in his daily life, being lazy, selfish, and generally a failure. Naoko takes on the role of the straight man, providing commentary and occasional physical discipline (?), and their interactions are very funny. The characters introduced later are even more unhinged 🤣 Especially one elite male officer who is usually very serious, but the moment he encounters Chojo, he instantly becomes a pathetic fanboy, openly showing his affection. It almost made me wonder if the series was secretly pushing yuri! (It's not BL 🤣). However, it's not entirely a nonsensical comedy. Due to his powers and casual attitude, Chojo was initially kept at arm's length by the town's residents. As they solve one small incident after another for the residents, people gradually start to approach them, and more and more people occasionally stop by the police station. The episodic stories often blend humor with a touch of warmth 🥰 I recommend this to anyone who enjoys absurd comedy, superpowers, or fun character interactions. Let's look forward to the anime adaptation in October! 😁
