Rabbits Don't Actually Like Carrots

Bugs Bunny) often associate rabbits with carrots, in reality, carrots are not a rabbit's staple food, and it's indeed not advisable for rabbits to eat too many carrots. High Sugar Content: Carrots are rich in sugar and carbohydrates. If rabbits consume too much sugar, it can easily lead to obesity, tooth decay, and even an imbalance of gut flora and gastrointestinal stasis. Digestive Burden: A rabbit's digestive system is evolved to adapt to high-fiber, low-nutrient foods. Carrots are root vegetables and lack sufficient fiber to meet a rabbit's needs for teeth grinding and maintaining intestinal motility. Correct Rabbit Diet Structure: Unlimited Hay (Staple, 80-90%): Such as Timothy Hay, high fiber helps with rabbit's intestinal movement and continuous teeth grinding. Appropriate Amount of Pellets/Rabbit Food (10%): To supplement essential micronutrients. Clean Water and Fresh Leafy Greens (5-10%): Such as celery leaves, romaine lettuce, water spinach, etc. Carrots and Fruits (Treats, Less than 5%): Can only be given occasionally in small chopped pieces, never as a staple food.
