A-Rui (played by Lu Hsiao-fen) has been running a small family barbershop for men for 40 years. This humble shop has witnessed all sorts of life events – births, deaths, reunions, and farewells. Faced with life's troubles, A-Rui always confronts life with the spirit of a Taiwanese 'Obasan' (auntie), refusing to give up. As time goes by, her customers get older. One day, A-Rui receives a call. An old customer who moved far away is sick and can't come for a haircut, asking A-Rui for a house call. Despite various objections, A-Rui remembers her master's teaching: 'In this profession, you must serve the customer to the very end.'
