Elephant That Carried an 8-Year-Old Girl to Safety During a Tsunami🐘

During the 2004 South Asian tsunami, 8-year-old British girl Amber was vacationing with her family in Phuket, Thailand. The resort offered elephant rides, and Amber had grown fond of a 4-year-old elephant named Ning Nong, feeding it bananas daily. On the morning of December 26th, she rode Ning Nong to the beach as usual. Unexpectedly, the sea water suddenly receded abnormally. Ning Nong became agitated and refused to go towards the sea, insisting on moving inland instead. Shortly after, the tsunami hit😨 The water rose to Ning Nong's shoulders, but it continued to move forward with Amber on its back until they reached a higher wall, giving Amber a chance to get off and escape to safety. Ning Nong also survived the tsunami🐘 However, as time passed, Amber gradually lost contact with Ning Nong, the "elephant" who had saved her life. It wasn't until 2016, when the story gained media attention again, that people finally tracked down its whereabouts! The original owner could no longer afford to care for it and transferred it to an elephant camp in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, where it was given a new name – Bai Tong. No one can be certain if Ning Nong truly "predicted the tsunami." It might have simply sensed danger and tried to escape, coincidentally saving Amber on its back. But whatever it was thinking at the time, Amber survived because of it.🐘❤️
