New York Father Sues for $400 Million After Losing Four Children, Citing Systemic Failures

Brady Harmon, a man from New York State, USA, is suing for $400 million after his four children were allegedly drugged and murdered by his ex-wife, Sarah Myers, and her mother, Amy Steadman, on June 10th of this year. The two perpetrators subsequently took their own lives. The heartbroken father claims multiple agencies ignored abuse for years, leading to systemic failures. According to a 17-page legal notice filed by Harmon, he plans to sue the City of Mechanicville, Saratoga County, two school districts, and a housing authority, alleging negligence and systemic malfunction. The documents state that the two perpetrators allegedly suffered from "Munchausen by proxy syndrome," chronically administering drugs to the children, including melatonin, diphenhydramine, and kratom, to control them and make them ill. Most shocking was an incident in May 2024: all four children exhibited symptoms of opioid overdose at school. Gracelyn, in particular, was in critical condition and required naloxone, an antidote. Although the hospital reported the case to Child Protective Services, it did not trigger an immediate criminal investigation or result in the children being removed from their mother's custody. Harmon tearfully recounted how these agencies allegedly deliberately concealed the children's educational and medical records, violating his parental rights. Harmon had not seen his children since his divorce in 2019 and was supposed to reunite with them in Utah this summer, only to receive devastating news. His lawyer emphasized, "This tragedy was not without warning signs." This lawsuit aims not only to hold parties accountable but also to force meaningful systemic change, ensuring warnings are heeded and similar tragedies are prevented.
