921 Earthquake

That night, I remember 921. At 1:47 AM on September 21, 1999, a memorable earthquake struck Taiwan. This year marks the 27th anniversary of the 921 earthquake. Although 27 years have passed, the memories that day brought to Taiwanese people are still worth remembering. That night, everyone had already fallen asleep. Suddenly, the entire house began to shake violently, objects on the table trembled non-stop, and family members rushed out of their rooms. No one knew what was happening, only that the earth seemed to have suddenly woken up. After the earthquake, many people lost their homes, and many areas were severely affected. During that time, the news constantly reported on the disaster areas, and people all over Taiwan were concerned about those affected. However, amidst this disaster, I also witnessed the unity of the Taiwanese people. Some donated supplies, some helped with rescue efforts, and others offered shelter to those in need. People from different places extended a helping hand, hoping to help the victims stand up again as soon as possible. The 921 earthquake happened 27 years ago, but we should not forget that day. Remembering is not just about sadness, but about learning from the past, preparing for disasters, and cherishing the peaceful life we have now. 27 years have passed, and 921 still reminds us: when facing disasters, we can be afraid, but more importantly, we must help each other and stand up again together.
