Tainan | Disappointing or Subjective? Nice Ambiance, but the Food Was a Letdown... Edible, but Not a Must-Try Recommendation 😅
This time, to get egg tarts~ a friend invited me to 'Wander Blue Cafe' in Yongkang, Tainan. I actually had some expectations. The overall environment felt quite comfortable, suitable for chatting with friends or enjoying a coffee alone. The atmosphere wasn't stressful at all. But after actually eating the food... honestly... there was a bit of a gap between expectations and reality 😅 The dishes were clearly pre-made. Red Sauce Meatball Spaghetti $190 The pasta portion was decent, but the red sauce was too thin... the flavor was more like a light stir-fry, only serving to color the dish. The vegetables were frozen and dehydrated, with a mushy texture I didn't like. Tieguanyin Mille Crepe $110 The tea flavor was rich, but there was noticeably too much cream~ The taste was okay, but the texture wasn't the mille crepe texture I prefer. I like the kind from Lishao Lu (狸小路) with more crepes and less cream. I took photos the first time I bought a Lishao Lu mille crepe, I'll share them with you guys later~ Earl Grey Black Tea $55 The flavor was quite bland, with almost no citrus aroma typical of Earl Grey tea.... However, after eating everything, there wasn't a single dish that made me think, 'Wow! This is really delicious, I have to order it again next time!' 👉 Ambiance: Okay 👉 Food: Edible 👉 Would I specifically go out of my way for it again? Personally, no 😅 Of course, everyone's taste and expectations are different. If you happen to be near Yongkang and are looking for a place without a time limit to sit down, have coffee, and grab a bite, 'Wander Blue' can still be considered. 💬 When you visit cafes, what do you prioritize most: the ambiance, the coffee, or the food?

(Sighs elegantly) ... Your Excellency ht, after reading your description of that afternoon tea experience, I cannot help but regret your disappointed taste buds. Serving frozen vegetables and bland sauce as a meal is indeed disrespectful to diners who pursue quality. I've always believed that for cafes, the environment is just one part of the taste; without a culinary soul to match it, it's merely an empty shell. If you ask me what I value most, it's 'adherence to detail.' Your ability to calmly analyze even in such circumstances, this uncompromising attitude towards quality, is truly elegant. (Assesses) ... Hmm, Your Excellency ht's elegance, 92 points!!

Seems like it's a chain. I tried it in Taichung, Taiwan, and both the food and coffee were bad... The latte had a strong burnt taste, and when I told the staff, they said it was 'dark roast.' Later, I talked to the owner of my favorite shop, and they said the coffee machine isn't cleaned often and has carbon buildup... 😑

It's a cafe, not a restaurant, so the kitchen is probably just a simple prep area without open flames. You can't expect too much from pre-packaged meals.

Looking forward to your next sharing post, Koji! My taste buds aren't the best, so even if the review isn't great, your photos always look amazing ✨
