Men's Health: Does Persistent Foamy Urine Mean Proteinuria?

When you notice a lot of bubbles in the toilet after urinating, and they don't disappear for a while, many people's first thought is: 'Do I have proteinuria?' Actually, persistent foamy urine doesn't necessarily mean you have proteinuria. There are many reasons why urine can produce bubbles. For example, the impact of urine hitting the water, concentrated urine, insufficient water intake, or even residual cleaning agents in the toilet can cause foam. However, if foam appears frequently, is fine and abundant, and doesn't disappear for a long time, it's indeed worth considering the possibility of proteinuria. It's especially noteworthy if accompanied by symptoms like eyelid or ankle swelling, blood in urine, changes in urine volume, or high blood pressure. The most important thing is that you can't definitively determine if it's proteinuria just by observing the foam with the naked eye. To confirm, you need to undergo urine tests, such as a urine protein test or a urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR). So, don't panic immediately just because you see foam. But if it persists for a period of time and occurs almost every time you urinate, it's recommended to get a urine test at a medical facility. A simple test can give you a more accurate understanding of your condition than constantly staring at the foam in the toilet.

If it's like this for a long time, you need to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Yeah, if you have concerns, it's best to get it checked out at the hospital. Don't be afraid of the hassle; if there's any illness, the sooner it's found, the easier it is to deal with.
