[Can You Keep A Secret?]Hikaru Utada
Nostalgic Japanese Drama - HERO 1 (Takako Matsu and Takuya Kimura) https://link.playio.co/ah2j22 Here's a link to my previous Japanese drama introduction. I discovered many Japanese songs through dramas, and Hikaru Utada is one of them. Actually, she first became famous with the theme song "First Love" for the drama "Seasons of My Heart" (Seoi ga Kawaru Toki). I haven't watched "Seasons of My Heart," but the song is very familiar. She was only 16 when she sang it, and it really kicked off the Japanese R&B trend. Amazing. This single, "Can You Keep A Secret?", was released in February 2001 and topped the Oricon charts that year. When HERO first aired, hearing this song felt so dynamic and the singer's emotional delivery left a deep impression. That's how I discovered her, and I've been a fan of her music ever since. Hikaru Utada comes from a musical family; her father was a music producer and her mother was an enka singer. She grew up immersed in music, and she composes most of her songs herself. She has many other songs I'd love to recommend. This song, "Can You Keep A Secret?", is a favorite ending theme from a drama, so I'm recommending it first. Interestingly, Hikaru Utada even made a cameo appearance in the drama as a waitress and acted alongside Takuya Kimura 😆 The lyrics explore the distance in a relationship where two people try to hide parts of themselves and their vulnerabilities, yet yearn for the other to fully accept them and keep their secrets.
