The origin of Taiwan's unique Mid-Autumn Festival BBQ Mid-Autumn Festival BBQ became hugely popular in Taiwan, partly due to the promotion from soy sauce advertisements in the 1980s, and also related to BBQ grills being blocked from export and turned to the domestic market at the time. It gradually evolved into a unique custom where people across Taiwan gather together.
