The Matter of Suctioning Mucus

The patient in the next bed has pleural effusion and a lot of mucus, requiring suctioning. I'm listening nearby, and it's like they're not suctioning at all. Ineffective suctioning just wastes the suction catheter. This kind of suctioning will prolong the time it takes to get discharged. As expected, suctioning mucus is a job for a pulmonology nurse. I don't know which department the next bed is from, but it's definitely not pulmonology. The nurse is less skilled at suctioning than I am.
