Currently Watching/Reading｜"Beyond the Beyond" Anime Episode 1

Just finished watching! 😆 "Beyond the Beyond" is an isekai fantasy shojo series adapted from the manga of the same name by Kyoko Hikawa, which began serialization in 1991. The story follows high school girl Noriko, who is unexpectedly transported to an unfamiliar world and encounters a mysterious young man named Izark, only to discover she can't understand a word of the local language. Furthermore, Noriko's arrival seems to be deeply connected to the fate of this world. I initially thought a work from this early period would have a very dated art style, but seeing it in action, it surprisingly didn't feel as old-fashioned as I expected! You can see traces of a nostalgic art style, but the overall visuals are quite comfortable to look at. When Noriko got caught up in a traffic accident and穿越 (transmigrated) at the beginning, I thought: 'A work from 1991 already did this? Is this some kind of pioneer?🤣' However, when I went back to take screenshots after finishing and to check the comments to see what people were discussing, I found out that in the manga, she gets transported after being involved in a random bombing incident, and the traffic accident was an adaptation for the anime. It's a kind of adaptation that fits the times, perhaps? (Same goes for the smartphone! 😆) At first, Noriko's voice sounded a bit too childish, but later I felt her performance was quite impressive, conveying her inner emotions very well. Noriko isn't a super calm and strong protagonist right from the start. She gets scared and screams when suddenly dropped into a strange world where she can't understand the language, but so far, it's within reasonable limits and didn't feel too annoying to me 😆 My impression of the first episode is good. I'll keep watching!
