Blue Dragon NDS Game and Anime

I recently took out my NDS games after a long time and started playing Blue Dragon. I found it quite interesting, and I hadn't played it for ages. I just looked it up and found out there's an anime. I'm curious if the anime's story is the same as the game. I'd like to ask those who have played the game and watched the anime: Should I watch the anime before playing the game? Or play the game first and then watch the anime? Or do they not affect each other, and the viewing or playing order doesn't matter? Thanks!
