You're being too pessimistic! Actually, to maintain any relationship, whether it's family, friends, or romantic love… you can just talk about where your boundaries are. You mentioned doing all the dishes and laundry by yourself, but these things can be shared. If only one person does them, over time, arguments will increase and feelings will fade.
