New Scam Method! 'Click Link, Money Disappears Instantly' Emails - Official Channels Urge 3 Don'ts

Recently, scam emails have been circulating with subjects like 'Vehicle Parking Fee Payment Failed Notification,' exploiting people's fear of unpaid bills to trick them into clicking payment links within the emails. The fraudulent websites not only mimic the official design of Far Eastern e-Tag (FETC) but also include credit card payment and OTP verification procedures, aiming to steal users' credit card information for fraudulent charges. The Criminal Investigation Bureau has also issued a warning, stating that scammers are even using a 'real customer service number, fake payment link' tactic. They list FETC's genuine customer service number in the scam email to gain trust, but direct the payment link to a fake website, making it harder to identify. Some users have shared online that regardless of the license plate entered, the scam website displays a fixed unpaid amount (e.g., 120 NTD or 40 NTD), indicating the site doesn't actually check parking records but uses small amounts to lower vigilance and lure users into providing credit card details. FETC reiterates that they will never send emails to demand parking fee payments, nor will they ask users to click links in emails to enter credit card details and OTP verification codes. If you receive similar emails, do not click the links or provide personal financial information. Please verify through official channels. Always use official channels to check parking fees. Remember the 3 Don'ts. FETC reminds users that if you need to check your parking fee payment status, please open the 'FETC ETC App' or 'uTagGo App' yourself, or directly visit the official FETC website, or contact customer service at (02) 7716-1998 or via LINE customer service.
