Seoul Hotels Face Major Labor Shortage! 7 New Hotels Opening, Competing for 1,500 Staff

Seoul's hotel industry is in the midst of an intense 'staffing war'! Following recent reports of delays and difficulties in hiring for the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, a total of 7 new hotels (including the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, Park Hyatt Seoul, etc.) are set to open by the end of next year, creating over 1,200 rooms and 1,500 job openings. With limited talent available, hotels are frequently offering high salaries and raises to poach experienced mid-level managers and entry-level staff, leading to a surge in job-hopping within the industry. Job seekers are reportedly "holding multiple offers." Facing this labor shortage, businesses must not only invest heavily but also focus on improving work culture and implementing AI to retain talent.
