The World's Largest 'Pure Freshwater Island' is Bigger Than Belgium

Located at the mouth of the Amazon River in Brazil, Marajó Island is the world's largest coastal freshwater island. This island is completely surrounded by freshwater from the river and the point where it meets the ocean, covering an area of 40,100 square kilometers! It's not only larger than Taiwan Island (approx. 36,000 sq km) but also vaster than the European country of Belgium.
