Never try to curry favor with others. Whether a relationship is good or bad doesn't depend on how you treat others, but on what value you can bring to them. Don't think that bowing and scraping and fawning over people will improve your relationships; that's wrong. Only when you can bring value to others will they be willing to associate with you. The essence of human interaction is the exchange of benefits. Always understand this: only relationships built on mutual benefit are the most stable and long-lasting.
