Simple Lunch~ 7-Eleven New Product -- 21Plus Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken Bites Review

Sharing my lunch today~ Mine: Scallion pancake + egg + spicy Daughter's: Bento box And a review of 7-Eleven's Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken Bites~ Last night's FamilyMart 'Black Chicken Cutlet' was a huge disappointment~ Despite claims of a premium black truffle flavor, online reviews were overwhelmingly negative. Most consumers found the black coating tasted nothing like truffle, was overly salty, the meat dry, and had a high bone ratio. I was just glad it was on sale for $39. Because of yesterday's terrible experience, I couldn't resist popping into 7-Eleven as I passed by to buy a bag of 'Salt & Pepper Fried Chicken Bites' for $69. It's a bit pricey, but I wanted to compare. After microwaving, I brought it straight home. It smelled quite good when I opened the package. The black coating is made with 'cocoa powder'. It's not overly salty, with a slight bitter aftertaste, but it's acceptable. The Taiwanese-style garlic and pepper seasoning is flavorful and pairs well with beer. 🍺 (Too bad I can't drink it 😆😆) However! The downside is that the <texture is a bit soft>. Microwaved fried snacks in convenience store bags inevitably become soft due to steam, losing the crispiness of freshly fried salt & pepper chicken. Slightly better than FamilyMart's 'Black Chicken Cutlet'. My daughter agrees too~ Seeing her munching on the 7-Eleven chicken bites, you can tell who won! Still... I prefer freshly fried salt & pepper chicken 😝😝
