SCP-185-Radio Receiver

Item #: SCP-185 Object Class: Safe (Consideration for upgrade to Euclid following Incident 185-1. See Document 185-1 for details.) Special Containment Procedures: SCP-185 is to be contained within a soundproofed containment chamber, equipped with noise-canceling microphones for monitoring purposes. The item requires standard security guard protocols. All personnel in the laboratory, other than those undergoing testing, are to wear ear protection. Description: SCP-185 outwardly appears to be a Soviet-era R-105M radio receiver from the Cold War period, but features a crudely added keyboard and an LCD screen in addition to its standard radio functions. The item can receive most radio transmission signals, including encrypted ones. Attempts to determine how the item deciphers the strongest encryption methods have thus far been unsuccessful. SCP-185's reception range is exceptionally wide, even exceeding that of modern radio equipment. When no numerical input is made via the keyboard, the item functions as a normal radio. However, if a year is entered using the keyboard, the radio will receive radio signals from that specified year (the content depending on the frequency used by the signal).
