Frontline It's about the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and it's incredibly moving. It features foreigners and children, and depicts people working on the front lines dealing with discrimination, and it was the first movie that made me cry. Six Four Six people who made it to the final interview get caught up in a whirlwind of past wrongdoings revealed through envelopes prepared by someone during the final group discussion. It's a super engaging and interesting movie.

There are many, but the one that surprised me the most was the first 'Friday the 13th' movie... the one famous for Jason. The first movie is a horror film, but it has a suspenseful atmosphere, so I recommend it to those who want to start watching horror movies but don't know where to begin. It's also surprising that some unexpected actors appear. Anyway, this movie really shocked me. I can't say more because of spoilers, but I was completely taken in. The scariness level is low, and I think there was only about one jump scare.

This is a project I've decided to start on my own. If you're up for it, I'd love to see your picks too, so feel free to join in! 1) Twins (双生児) This movie is based on Edogawa Ranpo's novel 'Twins,' but it's a different take in a good way, perhaps 'polished up' is the best description. However, for some reason, all the actors have their faces painted white and no eyebrows... 😂 And some scenes are just surreal. But that's precisely what connects to the beauty and the overall eerie atmosphere of the film, and it's wonderful. Ryo was so beautiful. There are grotesque scenes, but it's a fantastic human drama. I actually teared up a little at the end. 2) The Actor (女優霊) This is a horror film where opinions are divided: some find it not scary at all, while others think it's terrifying! I've actually lived in a place that's supposedly haunted, and this movie felt very real to me. As far as I know, it's the scariest horror movie out there. 3) Warning from Space (宇宙人東京に現わる) Considering when it was made, the visuals are incredibly stylish. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in Showa-era society and filmmaking. It's a mellow sci-fi, perfect for a relaxed watch. The aliens are kinda cute!

Spilling my thoughts, spoiler warning. If you've seen it, please head to the comments. First off, I read the original work, so I started watching with the perspective of 'how different will it be?'. But before I knew it, I was completely drawn in, and I was genuinely surprised by the final twist. As expected from the director of Ju-On, they're good at making movies with shifting perspectives. Go, master of horror films! Keep living! Become a yokai just like that! Jokes aside. This work was packed with original elements, and it was skillfully done how the core original elements remained hidden until the very end, ensuring that even those who've read the original could enjoy it. What seemed like a change in character settings turned out to be an addition of characters, and just when I thought that was all, character settings were indeed changed (I don't know if it was intended to cause confusion), and just when I thought there couldn't be any more, a major change in the very first setting was revealed. The movie also had a different kind of absurdity, which was good. Watching it visually, I gained new perspectives and made discoveries. First, the scene where Shota laughs while watching the two people fighting after coming out of the second convenience store that appeared in Tatsuya's flashback

The movie I wanted to see, 'Answering the Call of the Wild,' was only showing once at night. Since I was on a long break from work, I decided to go for it, stayed at a hotel, and spent the 13th and 14th immersed in movies! I was originally planning to watch 6 films, but I got too excited and overdid it, ending up feeling unwell on the second day, so I could only watch 4... 😥 On the first day, I watched The First Slam Dunk, Answering the Call of the Wild, and Chiikawa, and on the second day, Paprika. 'Answering the Call of the Wild' was really good. I own the original manga, but even people familiar with the original could enjoy it! I want to watch it again. The catharsis is immense. I've read the Blue Lock manga and am generally against live-action adaptations, but the reviews were good, so I decided to check it out, and it was quite, no, very good. It was wrapped up very refreshingly. However, people who get into the original from this movie might be a bit surprised. Chiikawa was also described as almost a horror movie by most people who haven't read the original on social media, so as someone who likes horror, I had no choice but to watch it. I wanted those mermaid scales. I actually watched Paprika for the first time. I didn't know anything about it beforehand, but it was incredibly fun. I was sleepy, but it woke me right up.

Joining in! I really enjoy watching movies, so I'd like to share my thoughts on recent films I've seen! 1. Rudolph and Ippaiattena It's about a house cat named Rudolph who meets a cat named Ippaiattena. Quite a tearjerker. 2. The Intouchables Watched it with subtitles and it was great. I thought, 'This is what a truly non-discriminatory person is like.' 3. TOKYO MER There are several movies in the series, but I think they're all hits. Even after solving one problem, the next one pops up, keeping you on the edge of your seat. 4. A Man Called(__('Ove')) It's about the dark side of society, but there's happiness within it. It gets a bit graphic, but it's interesting. Personally, I thought Gou Ayano was cool.

※There might be minor spoilers, so please be aware if you want to watch with zero prior knowledge. Also, I tried not to make the impressions too scary, but there are horror elements, so please be careful. 1: Galaxy Quest A live-action sci-fi movie that's great for (otaku) energy. The build-up is irresistible, and I absolutely love the ending. It might be my favorite American movie.... 2: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Original) A miracle of a film shot in just two days on a low budget in the Texas summer heat (around 40 degrees Celsius). What you have here is a record of genuine horror. 3: Mulholland Drive I'm a fan of David Lynch, and if I had to pick just one from his many works, it would be this one! It's a beautiful, sad, and mysterious film. It might even haunt your dreams! 4: The Cell I feel like watching this periodically. It's a visually stimulating suspense film, but the imagery is incredibly artistic and beautiful. It's the directorial debut of the 'The Fall' director. 5: Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! I cried a lot while watching this. I was torn between this and the Pokémon movie 'The Rise of Darkrai', but I chose this one because there were two scenes that left a particularly strong impression on me.

① The Mask Series I like both the subtitles and the dubs. ② Home Alone Series (1 & 2) I thought I could just laugh without thinking, but the family dynamics really hit home... ③ Paco and the Magical Book If I had to categorize it, it's a 'sickly' story, but I like how it's not presented in a depressing way. ④ Jumanji The story flows beautifully and wraps up nicely. I also liked how the lingering questions at the end were resolved for a happy ending. ⑤ Thermae Romae Series (1 & 2) One of the rare successful live-action adaptations. Hiroshi Abe is perfectly cast. Animated Movies ① Toy Story (1 & 2) ② Digimon Adventure: Our War Game! ③ Sing ④ Summer Wars ⑤ Your Name. Sorry, I've mostly only watched animated movies...! Seeing Nurupo Gassan's Top 5 lineup made me feel like I've come from a completely different world, but please let me join even though I'm like this! It might also be because I've lived in a remote countryside with no movie theaters or rental shops nearby, but I'm eager to watch more. Please recommend some movies. I like horror. I left out the theatrical versions, but I've been watching Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Anpanman since I was a child...!

I love watching movies in theaters, but lately I've only been watching on Amazon Prime. The student discount price of 330 yen on Prime is just too good.
