There are some ads that I just can't stand on a visceral level. Specifically, the ones with a woman who ends every sentence with something like 'I'm gonna dieeee~!' And she refers to herself as 'oi-ra' (a masculine 'I'). I don't see them as much lately, but I just… really can't stand them… Then there are the mobile game/app ads with women in weird outfits. It's like a vest made of pencil shavings, or a bird's nest? What is that outfit? Is it trendy? I don't get it… And the ads for that certain AI app featuring fujoshi content. Honestly, it's just too much. Why do so many ads feel like a mental assault?

I was impressed the other day when closing a page led to an ad that didn't require skipping, but now, the frequency of ads that revert to the old style of unskippable ones has increased. That in itself is fine as it's just a type of ad, but recently, the skippable ads have become a two-part system. When I skip the first one, and then return, for some reason, a second ad appears. They probably got inspired by other ads, where you can skip two 15- or 20-second ads consecutively without delay, which is bearable for the viewer. However, with Google Play's two-part ad issue, due to the skipping process, it takes at least 25 seconds to skip one ad. This means it becomes a forced ad that ties you down for 50 seconds or more, leading to a very frustrating experience. It feels like it was made with amateur thinking, and I honestly feel like teaching them the basics of marketing from scratch.

It switched to a commercial where an old lady puts a small crab in her skirt and drops it, and it's seriously disgusting. Ahhh, why is this allowed? It's staged so the reactions are annoying too. Ugh, so gross!! 😭😭😭

There was an ad that proudly proclaimed, 'You can make videos like this from just one photo!!' Even though it was mosaiced, you could totally see through it and tell exactly how they were animating it… It was the kind of thing that should get you arrested for a crime. (I'll write a bit more in the comments) Why is this kind of thing allowed…

"Must-see for anyone wanting to lose weight by summer!!" "This summer, your last diet ever" ...Summer's almost over though? Like, midsummer has already passed??? Don't they realize that posting ads like this and then just leaving them there, which happens a lot, only makes their image worse...?

The opposite direction of complaining, it seems they've finally learned recently. The main reason people hate these kinds of ads is that they interrupt gameplay, and the probability of the app crashing also relatively increases, making it a bottom-tier ad experience. The kind where you watch a reward ad, are forced to jump to a page, and then when you return, your progress is discarded and you have to start over from the beginning – apparently, this has been improving recently. Ads themselves won't decrease, and I wouldn't mind if they even increased. As long as they don't force page jumps, it's a Win-Win for those who watch them. The fact that they've stopped showing timers seems like resistance from Google's side; it's a slightly negative point as it implies they're banking on accidental taps. Still, what I appreciate is that whether to jump to the download page is now completely optional. This has elevated the ad experience from the absolute worst to somewhere in the middle. The Japanese government's move to enact dark pattern advertising regulations is also likely a factor. I believe the quiet reporting to various agencies has had an effect, and I hope it moves in a healthier direction (wishful thinking).

Aren't those app ads that flood in during point-earning activities just trash apps? You never see ads for apps that everyone has and have good reviews, right? (Though it happens occasionally). It's always apps with low ratings, either because no one installs them, or people install them but uninstall them quickly because they're so different from the ad content (if you read the reviews, they're full of low ratings). So, I guess they're useful as an indicator of apps you shouldn't install?

Today, I got the Playio treasure chest thing and had to force quit because a 15-second ad played on repeat 5 times.

Doesn't it give you a headache when a loud advertisement suddenly plays while you're gaming? I've adjusted the game volume to a comfortable level, but if a blasting ad comes on, I worry my ears will get messed up... It's better if there's a mute button, but for types without one, the only options are to adjust the volume with your phone's buttons or take out your earphones. Some really bad ones started quietly and then suddenly blasted ads at full volume.
