Even when I go at this exact time, sometimes there's one of each and sometimes there are two of each. Why is that? Is it random?

I was wondering about that too. But I feel like when I go at night without having caught any that day, I often catch two at a time.

They should increase by 2 each at 6:00 and 18:00. I think this means you can get 2 of each type per day.
