If the cost goes up due to promotion, and you deployed operators right at the limit of your cost, the recorded deployment might not match. Arknights' auto-deploy is built on the premise that operators are deployed at the exact same timing and skills are activated on the same timeline. Even if you could clear it without promoting, if you promote later and become stronger, you might fail because you can't deploy them. Therefore, it's always good to check.
